In order to cope with the increase in future mileage, a new maintenance and storage hall is being built for Wiener Lokalbahnen's workshop operations for the expansion of the Badner Bahn fleet.
The construction project comprises a stabling hall with 6 tracks including operating rooms, an outdoor area with parking lot and access road, an accompanying path on the north and east side, an enclosure including the existing storage area and a connection to the line including a siding in the outdoor area.
The stabling hall has 6 tracks and the total stabling capacity is 24 traction units. The two-bay structure with a roof profile has a total length of approx. 161 m and a width of approx. 27 m. The associated operating rooms are integrated into the hall to the south and designed as a two-storey reinforced concrete frame structure. The length of the building complex is approx. 32 m. The width of the building varies from 6 m in the north to 15 m in the south due to the routing of the entrance area. In the outdoor area to the south of the storage hall is the track yard as well as 21 parking spaces for cars, 32 parking spaces for bicycles and a collection point for waste bins.
The stabling hall allows rail vehicles to be parked under cover, filled with sand, cleaned inside and inspected daily.
