ÖBB Technische Services GmbH is constructing a new single-track workshop at its Vienna Jedlersdorf site for the processing of rail vehicle wheel sets using a tandem underfloor turning system (UFD). The aim of the project is to expand maintenance capacities and enable the efficient processing of even long passenger train sets.
The new hall building, which is around 90 m long, will be supplemented by a two-story extension with offices, changing rooms, and social areas. The positioning of the hall within the factory premises will enable up to nine-car passenger trains to be processed. As part of this, existing track systems will be dismantled and rebuilt, and overhead lines and outdoor facilities will be adapted.
The project covers a wide range of services—from construction and track laying to building services and electrical engineering to the mechanical engineering of the UFD system, hall crane, hall doors, and overhead line systems. Construction is taking place within an ongoing operating environment and requires close coordination of all trades involved.
The local building inspectorate ensures that the project is implemented on time, on budget, and to the required quality standards, and supports the project throughout the entire service period.
